To compensate for the lack of a built in tactical missile launcher the Illuminate nuke facility cost slightly less research.Unlike the UEF's Tactical / Nuclear Missile Launch Facility and the Cybran's Nuclear Launch and Defense Facility the Illuminate facility does not have the capability to launch tactical missiles.Nuclear missiles can be stopped by Nuclear Defense structures, so accurate intelligence is required to prevent wasteful use of nuclear missiles.
Nukes lose some effectiveness against lone major experimentals as it requires multiple nukes to down a single experimental. Nukes can be considered the ultimate splash damage weapon, as they are best suited for non-experimental armies and tightly packed bases. Strategic missiles are extremely powerful but take an large amount of time, research and resources to build and launch.
